LATEST RESEARCH - it's in the EDUCATIONAL NEWS28 April 2021 (by admin) |
Lockdown requirements have had a major impact on children (it's in the national news this week)...
There is growing evidence that the past year of lockdowns has had an impact on young children's language skills, according to research.
Data from 50,000 pupils and a survey of schools across England have shown an increased number of four- and five-year-olds needing help with language (BBC education site).
This is not a surprise and no doubt there will be more research to follow about the effects on children.
As a school we continue to do our very best settling children back into St. Bernard's life: focusing on pupil mental health and wellbeing, having focused teaching and intervention groups, revisiting and recapping on prior learning/learning objectives and knowledge gained, developing social and interaction skills etc. It will take some time but so far the children have been an absolute credit and continue to try their best.
Our ongoing PARENT CONSULTATION CALLS are part of the process of informing you as to how your child is doing. Y2, Y4 and Y6 calls take place this week. Y1, Y3 and Y5calls commence Monday 10th May and our Reception year group staff calls commence Monday 17th May. Don't forget to book your call with your child's class teacher!
Thank you for your co-operation.
