WAKE GREEN ROAD ongoing issues - WE NEED YOUR HELP

    20 April 2023 (by admin)

It was a deeply upsetting ROAD TRAFFIC COLLISION that took place earlier this week on the WAKE GREEN ROAD. Some of our children, parents and neighbours actually witnessed it. Thankfully no one was seriously injured.

However, it was still a very disturbing scene of complete carnage.

Thank you to parents and staff who helped out at the RTC scene and stayed to assist injured parties till the emergency services arrived – not an easy thing to do and deeply upsetting.

It is however an event that should remind us all of how dangerous the WAKE GREEN ROAD can actually be. It is a constant worry.

The Wake Green Road is the only available access point our children have to get to school safely and get home safely. 420 young children who all deserve the best possible safety ‘in and around’ school – including pavements/pedestrian zones along the Wake Green Road. 420 children walk in and walk out of school Monday to Friday.

Our actions, the way we drive, the way vehicles are parked, blocking pavements, causing possible obstruction, can have a significant knock-on effect. It can cause disruption, frustration and anger. It can lead to an individual injury or serious injury. The knock-on effect can be dangerous and the Wake Green Road, as we all know, is extremely difficult to navigate. Please park further away from school and walk your child in.

We continue to ask for assistance from the local authority, local police, our local MP and local councillor. We have emailed, made contact, asked for help, passed on our ongoing serious concerns. We have asked for more safety features outside school on the Wake Green Road – we continue to ask.

However, it is everyone’s responsibility to do their bit to ensure the safety of all our children along the Wake Green Road. Your emails and correspondence can also make a difference. Where vehicles are actually parked on the Wake Green Road makes a difference. The way vehicles are parked along the Wake Green Road makes a difference. Parking much further away from school makes a difference.

We have 420 wonderful children who come to St. Bernard’s every day…and we want to keep it that way! Every life is precious.

Please help us and email your concerns to the relevant people…
