    SCHOOL ATTENDANCE CONTINUES TO MATTER

    12 July 2023 (by admin)

We say it regularly BECAUSE IT'S IMPORTANT! IT MATTERS! When you receive your child's end of school year report (coming your way very soon!), please MAKE SURE YOU CHECK YOUR CHILD'S INDIVIDUAL ATTENDANCE. What percentage is it?

GOOD to EXCELLENT SCHOOL ATTENDANCE = greater opportunities for life!

*The school sends out regular attendance letters..

*The school has sent recent attendance statistics to some parents keeping parents fully informed.

*The school is promoting attendance matters with all the school children.

*School makes 'attendance related' phone call wellbeing checks.

*The school nurse (Nurse Jo) checks in on pupil welfare and wellbeing if attendance is a concern.

*The school conducts unannounced home visits as and when necessary - making reasonable enquiries.

PLEASE REMEMBER - IMPORTANT to know...

*The 'Authority Education Legal Team', works in close partnership with St. Bernard's (and all school establishments). They are very proactive corresponding with parents if attendance is an ongoing serious concern - matters will definitely be taken further - they issue penalty notices and take parents to court. PLEASE REMEMBER THIS. This happens regularly at St. Bernard's because we care about GOOD ATTENDANCE for all the children in our school.

The school is fully aware that genuine illness, medical-related matters and other personal issues can affect school attendance - it is perfectly understandable that this can be the case. Parents MUST fully cooperate and inform the school at every stage (phone calls, provide evidence etc.).

School will support parents as and when needed. It's about a partnership approach BUT THE MESSAGE IS CLEAR...SCHOOL ATTENDANCE MATTERS.

Thank you for your full cooperation.
