WAKE GREEN ROAD - no CROSSING PATROL & ROAD SAFETY

    8 September 2023 (by admin)

You will have noticed some new 'double yellow lines' near school. You will have noticed NO crossing patrol wardens. You will have noticed one of the safety barriers right next to the zebra crossing area has been damaged.

The school keeps campaigning, contacting the local authorities and getting the message out there. IT IS A CONSTANT WORRY! Of course, now with Birmingham Council in the national news with serious and significant funding issues, it is an even bigger worry! SAFETY MEASURES OUTSIDE SCHOOL! We can all play our part and do our bit!

Have you done your bit though because it is everyone's responsibility?

Have you emailed your increasing concerns to the relevant parties? It will only take a few minutes of your time. PLEASE EMAIL!

Our actions, the way we drive, the way vehicles are parked, blocking pavements, causing possible obstruction, can have a significant knock-on effect. It can cause disruption, frustration and anger. It can lead to an individual injury or serious injury (or worse!). The knock-on effect can be dangerous and the Wake Green Road, as we all know, is extremely difficult to navigate. Please park further away from school and walk your child in.

We continue to ask for assistance from the local authority, local police, our local MP and local councillor. We have emailed, made contact, attended meetings, asked for help, passed on our ongoing serious concerns. We even managed to get some local press interest, get TV camera outside St. Bernard's school last term. You may have seen the vehicle on the 'Midlands Today' news programme, speeding wrecklessly up the Wake Green Road. It is just so wrong, so unacceptable, so dangerous! Deadly driving! But let's be honest, it is happening more and more - it is only a matter of time before a serious injury happens or worse still, a fatality!

We have asked for more safety features outside school on the Wake Green Road – we continue to ask. Please help us. PLEASE GET YOUR MESSAGE AND CONCERNS OUT THERE!

We have wonderful and beautiful children who come to St. Bernard’s every day…and we want to keep it that way! Every single life is precious.

Please help us and email your concerns to the relevant people…

PLEASE REMEMBER THAT THE AUTHORITY HAVE NOT YET REPLACED THE SCHOOL CROSSING PATROL WARDENS. We are still waiting!
