CHILDREN LATE into SCHOOL - PUNCTUALITY is KEY at St. Bernard's3 October 2023 (by admin) |
SCHOOL ATTENDANCE MATTERS and it starts with PUNCTUALITY. Getting your child to school ON TIME makes a significant difference to their start of the day.
We have a daily 8.30am - 8.45am transition window. We introduced this to make it less congested outside on the pavements and road areas (hopefully, a little bit safer for the children). We also introduced it to help parents get their child/children into school on time (15 minute window of opportunity). We know that the daily morning family routines can be difficult, rushed, stressful even. That's why we have the 15 minute window of opportunity!
Some children are still arriving late however!
Some children are even being dropped outside the main school gates and are walking through the staff car park by themselves. This is clearly dangerous!
Please make every effort to get your child into school during that daily WINDOW of OPPORTUNITY.
Children who arrive late are often upset.
Lateness can often be very embarrassing for a child (we see it daily).
Children who arrive late miss out on the start of day key activities.
It can also disrupt the learning for the rest of the class.
Some attendance food for thought...
5 minutes late each day = 3 days lost
10 minutes late each day = 6.5 days lost
15 minutes late each day = 10 days lost
20 minutes late each day = 13 days lost
It all adds up to lost learning opportunities.
Thank you parents because PUNCTUALITY MATTERS, and good PUNCTUALITY & ATTENDANCE habits start at a young age.
