STATIONS of the CROSS - your child's journey19 March 2024 (by admin) |
The St. Bernard's 'Stations of the Cross' journey has commenced. The lower school hall area has been completely transformed and currently depicts the journey of the 14-step STATIONS of CHRIST'S CROSS. All made by children and staff.
The school GOVERNING BODY, led by Father Robert Murphy, journeyed last night through the school STATIONS.
Why 'STATIONS' in St. Bernard's?
The St. Bernard's 'Stations of the Cross' are a 14-step Catholic school devotion that commemorates Jesus Christ's last day on Earth as a man.
The 14 school devotions, or stations, focus on specific events of His last day, beginning with His condemnation.
Globally, the STATIONS are commonly used as a mini-pilgrimage as the individual moves from station to station. All of our wonderful children will experience this most special and spiritual journey.
At each station, our children and staff team will recall and meditate on a specific event from Christ's last day. Specific prayers will be recited and meaningful interactive tasks completed. The children will then move to the next station until all 14 are complete.
The Stations of the Cross are commonly found in hundreds of thousands of Churches across the globe - a series of 14 small icons or images perhaps depending on the actual Church. They also appear in church yards arranged along paths.
