    FIRST AID in SCHOOL

    13 March 2025 (by admin)

A Paramedic team led staff training yesterday after school, leading defibrillator and bleed kit training. It really was a most informative session. The team showed staff how to use an emergency BLEED KIT & DEFIBRILLATOR.

As you will be well aware, the recent tragic loss of life of 12 year old Leo Ross, after a shocking stabbing incident (Scribers Lane, Hall Green), hit hard in the local and wider community. Senseless and deeply, deeply upsetting.

Sadly, there were also 2 other stabbings that took place a couple of weeks ago, just around the corner from school. Police are currently investigating.

These crimes are shocking and cause great distress. Children can feel very frightened. When incidents like this also happen so close to school, it can be emotionally traumatic to process.

School wanted to make sure all staff had basic defibrillator and bleed kit training. This has now taken place.

School also has x8 first aid and paediatric trained members of staff, who do their very best to give children that extra daily duty of care. Children, of course, have accidents on the school site, they runaround during breaks and can fall over, they can trip, accidentally bump into each other, graze a knee or elbow, even have a slight fracture after a fall or more traumatic event...it happens!

Thank you to the staff team for doing their best to care for the children. If your child receives first aid in school, staff will write a first aid slip out. The slip confirms that your child has received very basic first aid.
