The way ahead...SWIMMING PROVISION for Y5 & Y6. Please read the following carefully (parents of children in Y5 & Y6)
Dear Parents
We have been working hard behind the scenes to secure an appropriate swimming provision for our children this year.
For the past two years, we have successfully adopted a ‘pop portable up’ pool provision for two-week intensive swimming but unfortunately, we received notification from the Diocese that following new guidance from Swim England it was not recommended.
We have managed to secure a booking at the fantastic Birmingham University for a weekly 45-minute session for up to 30 children every Wednesday morning for the summer term with a focus on targeting our children who CANNOT currently swim 25 metres unaided.
We fully realise that this is not ideal and would love to offer all of our children the opportunity, but this is the only option available to us in a high-quality swimming pool and changing area. We are asking parents to let us know if their children can swim 25 metres by filling out this form. Children who can swim 25 metres will have the opportunity to go for 1 week at the end of term to experience the pool.
IMPORTANT - we are also asking for voluntary contributions of £4 per week from the parents of those children attending to help cover the cost of the Coach travel there and back which is £200 per week. If we have more than 30 children who are unable to swim then we will split the sessions to accommodate as many children as possible.
Year 5 children will attend for the first half term (4 weeks), then year 6 children will attend for the second half of the summer term. Please don’t hesitate to speak to us if you have any questions regarding this.
